REMEDIES

1. Marking schemes does not provide distribution of marks.

2. The internal quality assurance exists but is not effective. Minutes of meetings did not address core issues in internal quality assurance such as lecture audit, lecture monitoring etc.

3. The proportion of staff core to the subject area is less than 60%.

4. Staff development for academic and non- teaching staff does not exist as there is no evidence.

5.Staff office are inadequate in space and lack file cabinets, air- conditioners, etc.

6. Fire extinguishers and sand buckets are not adequate in number.

7. The library lacks professional journals for the programme.

8. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. Marking schemes should provide distribution of marks.

2. Internal quality assurance should be effective by addressing core issues of the programme.

3. The University should engage more core staff for the programme.

4. The academic and non-academic staff of the programme should take advantage of staff development programme.

5. Staff office should be adequately furnished.

6. More fire extinguishers and sand buckets should be provided for the programme.

7. The University should subscribe to more professional journals for the programme.

8. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 71.12%. It scored 21 (75.00%)  in Academic Matters, 25 (71.43%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 1.5 (50.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
