1. Interaction between the panel members and students of the programme reveals the students have acquired the relevant hard and soft skills expected of but need further advancement of these skills

2. The staff mix by rank of 22.86:34.28:42.86 does not meet the NUC approved guidelines for the discipline in two categories.

3. The space in the existing laboratory is inadequate in size or meets 60% but less than 70% of the prescribed NUC Standards.

4. Laboratory equipment such as high speed desktops and alternative source of power are not available.

5. Classroom equipment and furniture are not well maintained.

6. The library subscription to e-books and e-journals is active to at least one (1) relevant data base in addition to open source for the programme.

7. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

8. Research and Collaborations exist but there is no evidence of educational project/research that the programme has created to serve the host community.

 

1. The University should ensure that the hard and soft skills acquisition relevant to the programme are impacted to students.

2. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 in line with the NUC approved guidelines.

3. The University should ensure that laboratory space meets the provisions of the BMAS.

4. All essential laboratory equipment and alternative source of power should be provided for the programme in line with the BMAS.

5. Equipment and classroom furniture should be well maintained.
6. The University should subscribe to at least two (2) relevant database e-resources for the programme.

7. The programme should be adequately funded.

8. The University should encourage academic staff and students of the programme to collaborate and developed project/research that would serve the host community.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.40%. It scored 35 (94.59%)  in Academic Matters, 33 (94.29%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
