1.Test and examination questions are not of good standard and do not cover the curriculum as majority of questions administered are objectives (MCQ) up to 400 level.
2. Degree projects are without unique format and standard, not well supervised as grammatical errors were noticed.
3. Internal quality assurance system is not functional at departmental level.
4. only 16 out of 34 academic staff (47%) are core to the subject areas of the programme.
5. 14 out of 34 academic staff (41.2%) have not benefited from staff development in the past three years.
6. Classrooms are not adequate in space and not well maintained.
7. Staff offices are ill-equipped with office cabinet, tables, chairs, air conditions and not well maintained.
8. The department did not comply with laws relating to fire and environmental sanitation as the area is dirty with no functional toilets for both staff and students.
9. Physical books and journals are inadequate in number, coverage and quality.
10. Low internet bandwidth impede access to the e-resources for the programme.
11. The programme is not adequately funded.
12. There is no multidisciplinary approach to research and collaboration with other institutions.

 

1. Test and examination questions should be of very good standard and adequately cover the curriculum.
2. The university should ensure standard format and proper supervision for degree projects.
3. The university should ensure a robust internal quality assurance system at the departmental level.
4. At least 75% of the academic staff should be core to the subject areas of the programme.
5. The university should ensure that all academic staff benefit from staff development programme.
6. The university should provide Standard, furnished and well-maintained classrooms for the programme.
7. standard and well-equipped office accommodations should be provided for all academic staff of the programme.
8. The university should comply with all laws regarding environmental sanitation and provide functional toilets for staff and students of the programme.
9. More current physical books and journals should be procured across relevant areas of the programme.
10. The university should ensure adequate internet bandwidth to enable staff and students access to the available e-resources for the programme.
11. The programme should be adequately funded by the university.
12. The university should ensure multidisciplinary approach in research collaboration with other institutions within and outside the country.

 

The total score for the programme is 65.57%. It scored 25 (67.57%)  in Academic Matters, 23 (66%) in Staffing, 14 (51.85%) in Physical Facilities, 12 (66.67%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (1%) in Funding, 3 (%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
