1.The number of the teaching staff available for the programme is inadequate.

2.The number of the teaching staff with PhD is inadequate.

3.None of the non-academic staff have benefited from the staff development programme.

4.The laboratory space is inadequate and not equipped with modern equipment

5.The classrooms are mostly shared and there is no lecture theatre, and the classrooms are not well maintained as broken chairs and tables were littered all over the classes.

6.Most of the staff offices are inadequate in space and also ill equipped and equipment like cabinet, bookshelves, white boards, modern tables and chairs, air conditioners, television are not found in the professors and senior lecturers offices. Toilet facilities were not also provided.

7.The available books and journal in the library are current, however they are not adequate in number and coverage. No active subscription to data base as e-subscription and hot spot could not be accessed.

8. Funding for the programme is poorly and inadequately funded for the programme

 

1.The University should make provision for over 80% of teaching staff to comply with the provisions of the CCMAS

2.The University should ensure that over 70% of the teaching staff have PhD

3.The University should ensure that the non academic staff benefits from staff development.

4.The University should ensure that modern equipment and furniture like conference table, chairs, air conditioners, television and relaxation chairs and executive tables should be purchased and installed in the laboratory.

5.The University ensure that some designated classes and lecture theatre are made available for the programme. Routine maintenance should be carried out. Projectors should also be provided for the lectures. More unexpired fire extinguishers should be installed in strategic places for safety.

6.The University should furnish the staff offices to be more conducive and convenient for staff especially professor’s offices.

7.The university is encouraged to ensure that more current textbooks and journals are provided for the students. There should be active subscription for the use of both students and staff.

8. The programme should be adequately funded and more funds made available for running the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 71.20%. It scored 36 (97.30%)  in Academic Matters, 27 (77%) in Staffing, 14 (51.85%) in Physical Facilities, 9 (50.00%) in Library. The programme scored 0 (0.00%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
