1. The curriculum contains less than four innovative courses.

2. The internal quality assurance mechanism is not effective.

3. 48.2 % of academic staff and none of the non-teaching staff have not benefited from staff development programme.

4. Laboratory equipment such as: lapping machine and other are not available, while some are in bad condition and obsolete like: Binocular microscope, ABEM Tetrameter booster, induced polarization transmitter unit.

5. Library books are inadequate in number. Books in micropaleontology, paleontology and hydrogeology

6. Access to available e-books and e-journals for staff and student is available only to internet campus hotspots and intranet.

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.

2. The University should ensure that the internal quality mechanism is effective to impact on the programme.

3. The University should ensure that all academic staff and non-teaching benefit from the staff development programme.

4. All essential laboratory equipment should be provided with good illumination.

5. More books should be procured for the programme.

6. The University should provide more access to available e-books and e-journals to internet and library website.

 

The total score for the programme is 85.20%. It scored 32.5 (87.84%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (82.86%) in Staffing, 23.75 (87.96%) in Physical Facilities, 14.25 (79.17%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
