1. Departmental handbook does not contain penalties for examination malpractice.

2. Less than 60% (58%) of academic staff of the programme have a Ph.D. degree.
3. There is a lack of team spirit among staff of the department.

4. No non-teaching staff have benefited from the universities staff development programme.

5. More equipment lying (large format printer, jacquard machine and embroidery machine) idle need to be installed need to be installed;
6. Books and journals in the library are inadequate in number, quality and coverage;

7. The Library holdings is not current at all for both recommended texts and journals;

8. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

9. Tracer system not very effective.

 

1. The University should ensure that academic regulations are clearly publicised in the handbook.
2. The University should ensure that all academic staff have a Ph.D. degree;
3. The University should ensure that the head of department is very effective and efficient;
4. The university should ensure that all non-teaching staff should benefit from the staff development programme;
5. The university should ensure that the equipment in the laboratories meets the recommended BMAS specification;
6. The university should ensure that recommended texts and journals in the physical library are of good, quality, very relevant and adequate in number and coverage.
7. The university should ensure that recommend texts and journals in the library are very current.
8. The programme should be adequately funded.
9. The university should ensure that tracer system for the programme is effective.

 

The total score for the programme is 88.21%. It scored 34 (97.14%)  in Academic Matters, 28.5 (81%) in Staffing, 25 (92.59%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
