DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. Students’ projects are not well supervised.

2. Practical and Laboratory Log -Books were not properly graded/scored.

3. Only one External examiner has been appointed for over four years.

4.There was no Departmental Quality Assurance Committee in place.

5. 60% of the academic staff have not benefited from Staff Development Programme.
6. Fire extinguishers and sand bucket are not adequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that students’ projects are well
supervised.
2. The University should ensure that students’ practical and Laboratory
Log-Books are properly graded/scored.
3. The University should ensure that appointment of External Examiner
meet the 2 years prescribed by the NUC BMAS.
4. The University should ensure the constitution of Quality Assurance
Committee at the Departmental level.
5.The University should ensure all academic staff benefit from Staff
Development Programme.
6. The University should provide adequate fire extinguishers and sand buckets.

 

The total score for the programme is 72.40%. It scored 25.5 (68.92%)  in Academic Matters, 25 (71.43%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
