1. The academic regulations were poorly developed and not conspicuously
located in the students’ handbook
2. The practicals conducted were not of good quality both in scope and
depth
3. Students’ course evaluation does not exist
4. 50% of the non teaching staff benefitted from staff development in
the last three years
5. Laboratory equipment were insufficient
6. There is no adequate funding for the programme

 

1. The academic regulations should be conspicuously located in the
students’ handbook and the font of the print in the handbook increased
for legibility
2. Practicals conducted should be of good quality both in scope and
depth
3. Students’ course evaluation must exist with documented evidence for
siting
4. All non teaching staff should regularly benefit from staff development
5. Equipment such as PH meter, Colorimeter, uv visible
spectrophotometer and columns for chromatography should be
acquired
6. The programme should be adequately funded

 

The total score for the programme is 86.55%. It scored 26 (78.79%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (97%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100.00%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
