REMEDIES

1. The curriculum is inadequate as two courses; Basic Elements of
Planning and Operations Research were omitted as prescribed by the
BMAS.

2. Practical works conducted were of good quality but did not cover
the curriculum.

3. The staff mix by rank of 35: 17: 48 is not consistent with NUC
guidelines in any category.

4. 42% of the non-teaching staff have benefitted from the staff
development programme.

5. Staff offices are adequate in space but some are ill-equipped.

6. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. The University should ensure that all omitted courses are included in
the curriculum to meet the BMAS requirements.

2. The University should ensure that all practical work conducted
covers the curriculum.

3. The University should ensure that the staff mix by rank complies with
NUC guidelines in all three categories.

4. The university should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefits from
its staff development programme.

5. The University should ensure that staff offices are adequately
furnished with the required furniture and appliances.

6. Adequate funding should be provided for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 85.60%. It scored 33 (89.19%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (89%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100.00%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
