REMEDIES

1. Only one innovative course is included in the curriculum. GENS 301: Business Creation and Growth.

2. Practical work conducted did not cover the curriculum due to some faulty equipment such as Absorption Column, Distillation Column, Constant Sterred Tank Reactor and Viscosity Measurement Kit.

3.Sampled Students did no demonstrate very good level of hard and soft skills relevant to the programme.

4. External Exerminers’ report is not of good standard . It lacked specific details and clarity.

5. The Head of the Department is not very effective and efficient.

6. Non – teaching staff are inadequate in number.

7. 70% of the academic staff and 100% of the non academic staff have not benefitted from the staff development programme.

8. The laboratory space is inadequate and equipment on Process Dynamic and Control are not available while equipment such as Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), Scanning Electron Microscope, Constant Stirred Tank Reactors and Viscosity Measurement kit are not functional.

9. The classroom space is inadequate and the whiteboards, public address system and projectors are not well maintained.

10. Some of the fire extinguishers have expired and some toilet facilities are not functional.

11. Physical holdings of text and journals are not adequate in number and the journals are not very current.

12. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University should ensure the inclusion of four (4) or more innovative courses in the curriculum.

2. The University should ensure that all practical work conducted are of good quality and cover the curriculum.

3. The University should ensure that all the students demonstrate very good level of hard and soft skills relevant to the programme.

4. The University should ensure that the external exerminers’ report is of good standard.

5. The University should ensure that the Head of the Department is very effective and efficient.

6. The University should employ adequate number of non- teaching staff for the programme.

7. The University should encourage all the academic and non-academic staff to benefit from the staff development programme.

8. The University should ensure that the laboratory space is adequate and all essential equipment are available and functional.

9. The University should ensure that the classroom space is adequate and the whiteboards, public address system and projectors are available and well maintained.

10. The University should ensure that adequate and functional fire extinguishers and toilet facilities are available.

11. The University should ensure that current books and journals are available in physical library.

12. The University should provide more funding for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 77.24%. It scored 30 (81.08%)  in Academic Matters, 24 (73.00%) in Staffing, 19 (70.37%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
