1. The Philosophy and objectives of the programme are not well stated.

2.The curriculum is not specific to the programme and does not include basic statistic courses such as:-
100Level – STA 111(Descriptive Statistics), STA112 (Probability 1), STA121(Statistical Inference 1), STA 122(Statistical Computing 1).

200Level – STA212(Introduction to social and Economic Statistic), STA221(Statistical Inference 11) STA231(Statistical Computing 11), STA 299(Industrial Attachment).

300Level-STA312(Distribution Theory), STA351(Biometric Methods),

400Level- STA412(Distribution Theory 11) STA442(Non-parametric Methods)

3. There is no innovative course for the programme.

4.Students final year projects are not properly supervised due to poor harmonize with references.

5. Practical work conducted do not covered the curriculum due to insufficient curriculum.

6. Only one meeting of the internal quality assurance system exist in the last three years.

7. 75% of the Non teaching staff have not benefitted from staff Development Programme.

8. The 1000 Lecture Theatre is not well equipped with Multimedia Screens.

9.Professorial office are not well equipped with Televisions, fridge and in build toilet.

10.Physical Library books are not current in dedicated areas of statistics.

11. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

12. There is no multidisciplinary approach on research and collaborations.

 

1. The University should ensure that, the philosophy and objectives of the programme are clearly defined and well stated.

2. The curriculum should be reviewed to include all omitted courses in line with the CCMAS/BMAS guideline.

3. The University should include innovative course in the curriculum above the minimum core/ compulsory courses in the CCMAS/BMAS without exceeding the maximum credit load across all the level.

4. Students final year projects should be properly supervised.

5.The curriculum should be reviewed, so that the practical should be properly cover for the programme.

6. The University should ensure that internal quality assurance meeting are done regularly.

7. The University should ensure that all Non-Teaching Staff benefit from staff Development Programme.

8. The 1000 Lecture Theeatre should be well equipped with Multimedia Screen.

9. The University should ensure that professorial office are well furnished for the programme.

10. The University should ensure that more current books in specialized areas are procure for the programme.

11.The programme should be adequately funded.

12. The University should ensure that, there is multidisciplinary approach for research and collaboration.

 

The total score for the programme is 80.80%. It scored 24 (64.86%)  in Academic Matters, 33 (95%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
