REMEDIES

1. The curriculum contains less than four innovative courses.

2. The standard of tests and examinations do not cover the
curriculum.

3. Practical workbooks are combined for some specialized areas such as Bios instrumentation and Bio mechanics.

4. The proportion of teaching staff core to the programme
provides for only 57% of the teaching staff need.

5. The following equipment are not adequate in no ECG, Gene expression machine and GCM.

6. Academic staff offices are inadequate in space.

7. Physical library books and Journals are inadequate in
number and currency.

8. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. The university should ensure that the curriculum is
enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses
without exceeding the maximum credit load.

2. The University should ensure that standard of tests and
examinations is improved upon and tests and examinations
cover the curriculum.

3. The University should ensure that all specialized practicals have their own practical work book separately.

4. he University should ensure that the proportion of
teaching staff core to the subject area provides for 75% of
the teaching staff need.

5. Additional ECG, Gene expression and GCM should be purchased for the programme.

6. Standard (spacious) offices should be provided for the
programme.

7. Physical library books and Journals are inadequate in
number and currency.

8. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.40%. It scored 31 (83.78%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91.43%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
