REMEDIES

1. interaction with some students revealed that the curriculum is substantially covered.

2. The standard of tests and examinations do not cover the
curriculum.

3. There is bulk distribution of examination scores in OIM 314, OIM 214 and AMS 101.

4. The programme does not make adequate provision for practical work as evident in OIM 211.

5. Interaction between panel members and students of the programme reveals the students have not acquired the relevant hard and soft skills expected.

6. The quality assurance mechanism is not effective.

7. 34% of the academic staff and none of the non-academic
staff have not benefited from Staff Development Programme.

8. 24 computer systems is not adequate to for the programme.

9. The classroom and lecture theater are inadequate in space.

10. . Available fire extinguishers are not functional and sand
buckets were not provided

11. Physical library books and Journals are inadequate in
currency.

12. . The University subscribes to only one database.

13. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is adequately covered.

2. The University should ensure that standard of tests and
examinations is improved upon and tests and examinations
cover the curriculum.

3. Examination scores should be distributed as prescribed in marking scheme.

4. The University should ensure that the programme is structured to include adequate practical work.

5. The University should ensure that the practical work conducted is of good quality and covers dept and scope of the curriculum.

6. The University should ensure that the internal quality assurance unit is effective to impact on the programme.

7. The University should ensure that all academic and nonacademic
staff benefit from Staff Development Programme.

8. Additional computers should be purchased for the programme.

9. Standard classrooms and lecture theater should be provided for the programme.

10. The University should ensure that functional fire
extinguishers and sand buckets are provided at strategic locations for the programme.

11. More current books and Journals should be procured for
the programme.

12. The University should ensure that more database is
subscribed to.

13.The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 78.15%. It scored 24 (72.73%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (88.57%) in Staffing, 19 (70.37%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
