1. Some core courses like GST 121 Use of Library, study skill, ICT and GST 113 Nigerian People and Culture, are Omitted from the Curriculum

2. Only 35.3% of staff are core to subject area.

3. Only 40% of the non-teaching staff have benefitted from staff development programme.

4. Staff offices are inadequate in space, not well furnished with bookshelves, refrigerators and Professorial Staff Offices are without toilets.

5. Fire extinguishers are expired and inadequate in number

6. Toilet facilities are non-functional

7. Library holdings and currency of books and journals are inadequate in number.

8. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The Curriculum should be in line with the Provision of the Benchmark Minimun Accreditation Standard

2. The University should ensure more Statistics Education related Academic staff for the Programme.

3. All non-teaching staff should benefit from the staff development programme

4. The university should provide adequate and well-furnished office accommodation for the programme.

5. Adequate fire extinguishers should be provided for the programme.

6. Functional toilet facilities should be provided for the programme

7. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme.

8. The University should provide adequate funding for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 71.79%. It scored 29 (93.55%)  in Academic Matters, 23 (69.70%) in Staffing, 14 (51.85%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
