REMEDIES

1. Curriculum contains all the compulsory courses prescribe by the BMAS across all the levels of study. However, there is need to add introduction to crops and animal physiology as core course for enhanced students’ practical skills.

2. Marking schemes exist and they were detailed and clear but the format of presentation are not uniform.

3. The ratio of teaching staff core to the programme, provided for only 50% of the teaching staff need.

4. The space in the existing laboratory is inadequate in size or meets 60% but less than 70% of the prescribed NUC Standards.

5. Classroom space is inadequate.

6. Funding for the programme is inadequate

 

1. The Curriculum should be revised to include: introduction to crops and animal physiology as core course for the programme.

2. The University should ensure that the format of marking schemes presentation of the programme are uniform.

3. The University should ensure that the ratio of teaching staff core to the subject area provides for 75% or more of the teaching.

4. The University should ensure that laboratory space meets the provisions of the BMAS.

5. The University should provide more classroom space

6. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.40%. It scored 33 (89.19%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (85.71%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100.00%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
