REMEDIES

1. The standard of tests and examinations is poor.
2. There is block allocation of marks to questions in almost all the courses.
3. Degree project was not well supervised as objectives were not properly stated, data collection methods are not followed and instrument for data analysis is weak.
4. External Examiner’s System exist with qualified assessor but reports are not of good standard as they did not capture the judgment of assessor on the quality of facilities and teaching.
5. Physical library books and journals are inadequate in number and currency.
6. Slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by staff and students of the programme.
7. Funding is inadequate for the programme.
8.There is no multidisciplinary approach to research and collaboration.

 

1. The university should ensure that standards of tests and examinations is improved.
2. Block allocation of marks to examination questions should be discourage.
3. The University should ensure that degree projects should be properly supervised.
4. The reports of external examiners should capture amongst others, the University’s level of compliance with BMAS and the judgement of assessors on the quality of the teaching and facilities available for the programme.
5. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme.
6. The University should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon.
7. The programme should be adequately funded.
8. The University should ensure that there is a multidisciplinary approach to research in the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 88.80%. It scored 31.5 (85.14%)  in Academic Matters, 33.0 (94.29%) in Staffing, 26 (96.30%) in Physical Facilities, 14.5 (80.56%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
