REMEDIES

1. The curriculum contains only two additional innovative courses.
2. Some references cited in the students’ project were not listed in the reference section.
3. Practicals conducted do not cover the curriculum in the courses that require practicals.
4. The proportion of teaching staff core to the programme provides for 66.7% of the teaching need.
5. 60% of the non-academic staff have not benefitted from the Staff Development Programme.
6. The currency and number of international journals are inadequate.
7. Funding is inadequate for the programme.
8. There is no multidisciplinary approach to research

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.
2. Students degree projects should be well supervised.
3. The University should ensure that practicals conducted cover the depth and scope of the curriculum.
4. The University should ensure that the proportion of teaching staff core to the subject area provides for 75% or more of the teaching staff need.
5. The University is encouraged to ensure that non-teaching staff benefit from Staff Development programme.
6. More current journals should be procured for the programme.
7. The programme should be adequately funded.
8. The University should ensure that there is a multidisciplinary approach to research in the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 88.80%. It scored 31 (83.78%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (88%) in Staffing, 27 (100.00%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
