1. The curriculum contains only 3 additional innovative courses.
2. Practicals conducted do not cover the curriculum.
3. 45.5% of the academic staff do not have Ph.D. degree.
4. 37.5% of the academic staff have not benefitted from staff Staff Development Programme.
5. The department is run by a lecturer 1.
6. There are no Electrophoresis Units,Micro-keldjhal apparatus, High speed refrigerated Centrifuge for the programme.
7. Some of the academic staff office are not furnished with bookshelves and file cabinets
8. Physical library books and journals are inadequate in number and currency.
9. The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and e-journals by students and staff of the programme.

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.
2. Practical work should cover the depth and scope of the curriculum.
3. All academic staff should be encouraged to obtain Ph.D. degree.
4. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from staff development programme.
5. The University should ensure that the Department is run by a qualified academic not below the rank of senior lecturer.
6. All essential loboratory equipment should be provided for the programme in line with the BMAS.
7. Academic Staff offices should be adequately furnished.
8. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme.
9. The University should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon.

 

The total score for the programme is 78.40%. It scored 33 (89.19%)  in Academic Matters, 27 (77.14%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
