REMEDIES

1. Some Compulsory Course, such as CSC 308, Formal method of software development and, CSC 401, Organization of programming, were omitted from the Curriculum.
2. The practical work conducted did not cover the curriculum in areas like database design and management, software development and networking.
3. External Examiner exist, but the work done is not of good quality.
4. Staff student ratio of 1:26 violates the BMAS provision for the programme.
5. Only 61 percent of academic staff have PhD
6. Technical staff for the programme are inadequate
7. Over 30 percent of academic staff and 50 percent of non-academic staff have not benefited from staff development in the last three years.
8. The hardware laboratory is fairly equipped
9. Journals in the physical library are inadequate and not current.

 

1. The listed omitted programmes should be added to the curriculum.

2. The university should ensure that practical work covers all areas of the programme
3. The University should engage a qualified and experienced external Examiner.
4. The University should ensure that the staff student ration of 1:20 is complied with.
5. The university should ensure that more academic staff are encouraged to get PhD
6. More technical staff should be recruited for the programme.
7. More academic and non-academic staff should be sponsored for self-development.
8. The university should upgrade all computer system and procure laboratory equipment such as blower, routers, (wired) manager switches, oscilloscope, soldering work station and radio for the programme.
9. More current Journals should be procured in the physical library.

 

The total score for the programme is 80%. It scored 30 (81%)  in Academic Matters, 26 (74%) in Staffing, 23 (85%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (78%) in Library. The programme scored 3 (100%) in Funding, 3 (100%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
