REMEDIES

1. The curriculum for the programme was not fully covered as there was no provision mandatory internship and the compulsory study of at least one foreign language.

2. The marking schemes were not well developed.

3. The degree projects were not well supervised and not duly signed.

4. There were no interactive boards in the classes and there was no language laboratory where the students could use for their foreign language classes.

5. The staff mix by rank of 22:28:50 met the NUC guidelines of 20:35:45 in only the professorial cadre.

6. The available non-teaching staff had not benefitted from the university’s staff development scheme.

7. There were no charts, globes, maps, television sets as and info-graphics in the resource room provided for the programme.

8. Staff offices for readers were not well equipped with television sets, refrigerators and bookshelves.

9. There were no in-built toilet systems and there was no running water.

10. The internet access was limited only to the library section.

11. There was not enough evidence of research and collaboration by staff and students with other institutions within and outside the country.

 

1. The university should ensure that the curriculum for the programme is fully covered by introducing graded internships and the compulsory learning of at least one foreign language.

2.      The university should ensure that marking schemes are detailed and focused on the thematic areas of the programme.

3.      The university should ensure that degree projects are well supervised and duly signed.

4.      The university should ensure that it provides functional interactive boards as well as language labs for foreign language classes.

5.      The university should ensure that its staff mix by rank meets NUC guidelines in all the categories.

6.      The university should ensure that all its non-teaching staff benefit from its staff development scheme.

7.      The university should ensure that charts, globes, maps, television sets and info-graphics are provided in the resource room for the programme.

8.      The university should ensure that television sets, refrigerators and   bookshelves are provided for most of the staff offices.

9.      The university should ensure that there are in-built toilet facilities and running water.

10.  The university should ensure that staff and students can access the e-library using internet, library website, campus hotspots and the intranet.

11. The university should ensure that there are research and collaboration by staff and students with other institutions within and outside the country.

 

The total score for the programme is 76.80%. It scored 27 (72.97%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (83%) in Staffing, 19 (70.37%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
