1.The curriculum contains only 3 additional innovative courses.

2. Block allocation of marks were observed in some of the question papers.

3. Some of the degree projects are not well supervised as many references cited in the text were not listed in the references.
4. Practical work conducted did not cover the curriculum.
5. The internal quality assurance mechanism is not effective as minutes of meetings were not available.
6. The proportion of teaching staff core to the programme provides for only 66.7% of the teaching staff need.
7. 50% of the non-academic staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme.
8. Physical library books are inadequate in number.
9. The internet connectivity is slow

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.
2. Block allocation of marks to examination questions should be discouraged.
3. Degree projects should be well supervised.
4. Practical work should cover the depth and scope of the curriculum.
5The University should ensure that minutes of meetings are adequately documented.
6. The university should ensure that the proportion of teaching staff core to the subject area provides for 75% or more of the teaching staff need.
7. The university should ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from Staff Development Programme.
8. More current books in enzymology and biochemical pharmacology should be procured for the programme.
9. The university should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon.

 

The total score for the programme is 85.60%. It scored 31 (83.78%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91.43%) in Staffing, 27 (100.00%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
