DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. A compulsory Course, CSC 302, Object-Oriented Programming was omitted from the Curriculum.
2. Only one innovative course was introduced to the programme.

3. Practical work conducted did not cover the curriculum.

4. External Examiner exist, but the work done is not of good quality.

5. Only 57 percent of academic staff, have PhD.

6. The software laboratory is inadequate in space and fairly equipped.

7. Staff Offices Lake space and not well furnished with visitor’s chairs and file cabinet.

8. Funding for the programme is fairly adequate.

 

1. CSC 302, Object-Oriented Programming should be added to the curriculum.
2. The university should ensure that more innovative courses are introduced to the programme.
3. Robust software such as IDEs (e.g Visual studio2022, PyCharm, NetBeans etc) should be installed for practical.
4. The University should engage a qualified and experienced external Examiner

5. The University should ensure that more academic staff is sponsored to get the PhD.
6. A more spacious software laboratory with state-of-the-art computers, routers, switches and robust integrated development environment should be installed for the programme.

7. The University should provide for a more spacious and well-furnished staff offices for the programme.

8. More funds should be provided for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 82%. It scored 28 (76%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (86%) in Staffing, 21 (78%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (67%) in Funding, 2 (67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
