REMEDIES

1. Some practicals described in the practical manual are not conducted in the following courses:
FST 304: Food Microbiology
FST 317: Food Chemistry
FST 319: Cereal Root and Tuber Technology
FST 315: Human Nutrition
FST 511: Fruit and Vegetable Processing
FST 513: Milk and Dairy Technology
2. The External Examiner has spent more than 4yrs.
3. The Department has only 1 administrative staff
4. The Staff Offices are not well furnished.
5. 40% of academic staff of the programme have not benefitted from staff development in the past three years.
6. The Food Processing Laboratory is inadequate in space
7. There is no Faculty/ Departmental Library

 

1. The University should ensure that all practicals are conducted for all courses.
2. The University should ensure that External Examiners are not appointed for a period of more than two years, renewable for one year and no more.
3. Adequate and qualified Administrative Staff should be provided for the programme
4. Adequate and well-furnished Staff Offices should be provided for the teaching staff of the programme.
5. The University should ensure that all academic staff of the programme benefit from staff development.
6. Adequate and well-equipped food processing plant should be provided.
6. Faculty/ Departmental Library should be provided.

 

The total score for the programme is 88.80%. It scored 33 (89.19%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (89%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
