DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. There were three innovative law courses in the curriculum which was below the BMAS and CCMAS requirement.
2. The non-academic staff were inadequate for the programme.
3. 50% of academic staff do not have their PhD.

4. 36% academic staff have not benefited from staff development in the last three years.

5. There were inadequate fire extinguishers and sand buckets in designated areas.

6. The Library holding was deficient in foreign books.
7. There was no evidence that multidisciplinary approach was being applied to research and collaboration.
8. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. There is need to introduce more innovative courses to enrich the curriculum and bring it in line with the NUC guidelines.
2. There is need to recruit more non-academic staff for the programme.
3. The university should ensure that more academic staff obtain their PhD in line with the requirements of the BMAS
4. Deliberate efforts should be made by the university to ensure that more academic staff benefit from staff development programmes.
5. More fire extinguishers and sand buckets should be procured to ensure the faculty comply with safety regulations
6. More foreign books and journal should be procured for the library
7. There is need for the Faculty to apply a multidisciplinary approach to research and collaboration in line with NUC guidelines.
8. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 88.80%. It scored 36 (97.30%)  in Academic Matters, 28 (80.00%) in Staffing, 26 (96.30%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
