REMEDIES

1. The Curriculum contains less than four innovatives courses.
2. Staff mix by rank of 25:37.5:37.5 does not meet the NUC approved guidelines in any category.
3. The following essential equipment are not available in the laboratory and meteorology station :
– soil sieve in lab;
– Current Metre in lab; and
– Soil Thermometre in Meteorology’s Station
4. Academic staff offices are inadequate in space .
5. Sand Buckets are not provided.
6. Funding is inadequate for the programme .

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.
2. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 in line with the NUC approved guidelines.
3. All essential laboratory equipment should be provided for the programme in line with the BMAS.
4. Standard offices should be provided for the programme.
5. The University should ensure that sand buckets are provided for the programme.
6. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 85.71%. It scored 30 (90.91%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (88%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
