REMEDIES

1. The students’ handbook does not clearly define academic regulations, penalties for exam malpractice, and cultism.

2. Marking schemes were not well-developed.
3. 83.4% of the non-academic staff have not benefited from the staff development program.
4. The university has no equipment for biotechnology e.g. PCR machine, Newer centrifuge, and UV imagery.
5. The classroom equipment was not well-maintained.
6. Weak internet and hotspot coverage around the faculty.
Funding for the program is inadequate.

 

1. The university should ensure that the students’ handbook contains rules and regulations governing the conduct of examinations, such as penalties for examination malpractice, and cultism.
2. The university should avoid block marking or lumped marking.
3. The university should ensure that non-academic staff participates in staff development programs.
4. The University should be encouraged to procure newer models of plant science and biotechnology equipment.
5. The classroom equipment and furniture should be well-maintained.
6. The university should ensure strong and wider internet and hotspot coverage within and around the faculty.
7. The university should provide more funding to boost the program

 

The total score for the programme is 85.71%. It scored 28 (90.3%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (89%) in Staffing, 21 (78%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (89%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33%) in Funding, 3 (100.0%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.0%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
