REMEDIES

1.Only one innovative course was introduced was introduced to the programme.
2. Practical work did not cover the curriculum.
3. Only 64% of teaching staff has benefited from benefited from staff development.
4. The staff mix by rank is consistent in two NUC categories (Professor and Senior lecturer).
5. Only 69% of teaching staff and 67% of non-teaching staff has benefitted from staff development.
6. Inadequate quantity of journals in the physical library

 

1. The university should ensure that not less than four innovative courses are introduced to the programme.
2. The university should ensure that all practical work cover the curriculum.
3. The university should ensure that all academic staff benefit from staff development.
4. The university is advised to employ more lecturers in the lower cadre.
5. The university should ensure that all teaching and non-teaching staff benefit from staff development programme.
6. The university should ensure that more journals are purchased for the programme in at least 3 copies par journal.

 

The total score for the programme is 82.35%. It scored 28 (84.85%)  in Academic Matters, 28 (80.00%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
