1. The students practical work conducted did not cover all the scope of the programme especially in oral literacy

2. The Internal Quality assurance system exists but it’s not effective, there was no minutes of meetings just list of appointed staff

3. 66.7% of academic staff and 100% of the non-teaching staff have not benefited from the Staff Development Programme.

4. The Language laboratory is not sound proof, all laptops were not engraved and labelled and no toilet for staff and students.

5. The Classrooms were not well maintained and do not have teaching aids like smart boards, projectors and white boards

6. Physical library books and journals are inadequate in number and coverage.

7. Research and collaborations exist but no multidisciplinary approach

8. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that practical work conducted covers all the scope of the programme

2. The university should ensure that internal quality assurance system is effective and meetings should be held regularly.

3. The University should ensure that all staff benefit from the Staff Development Programme.

4. The University should provide a well- equipped, sound proof language laboratory with functional toilets.

5. The University should ensure all classrooms have teaching aids and are well maintained.

6. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme to cover all the core areas of the programme.

7. The University should ensure that more collaborations in research with multidisciplinary approach is created.

8. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.80%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 28 (80.00%) in Staffing, 23.5 (87.04%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
