1. Degree projects were not well supervised as there was inconsistency in the format of student abstracts for projects sampled.
2. Only 56.5% of teaching staff are core to the programme.

3. only 41.7% of non-teaching staff have benefited from staff development.
4. No multidisciplinary approach was engaged to the research and collaboration.

 

1. The university should ensure that a standard format is adopted for students’ projects.
2. The university should ensure that more staff are employed in the medical laboratory field.
3. The university should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from staff development.
4. The university should ensure that the programme engaged a multidisciplinary approach in it research and collaboration.

 

The total score for the programme is 88.80%. It scored 33 (89.19%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (83%) in Staffing, 25 (92.59%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100.00%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
