1. the curriculum for the is inadequate as some core courses like STA 351 (Biometrics Method)STA 412 (Probability Distribution Theory) STA 221 and STA 331 are Omitted from the Curriculum.

2. the coverage of the curriculum in terms of questions papers is substantially covered.

3. practical’s conducted do not cover the curriculum.

4. evaluation of skill Acquisition is of the average for both hard and soft skills relevant to the programme

5. internal quality assurance System exist but not that effective

6. the staff mix by rank is consistent with NUC guidelines in only one category.

7. 0nly 31% of the academic staff have benefited from staff development in the past three years and 100% of the none-academic staff do not benefit from staff development.

8currency of holdings are current for recommended text but not current for journals or vise-versa.

 

1. the University should ensure that the curriculum for the programme is adequately covered with the inclusion STA 351 (Biometrics method) STA 412 (probability Distribution theory ), STA221 and STA331.

2.The coverage of the curriculum in terms of questions papers are adequately covered.

3. the University should ensure that practical’s conducted should fully cover the curriculum adequately.

4. The University should ensure that students are exposes to more hard & soft skills relevant to the programme.

5. Internal Quality Assurance system should be functional and effective.

6. the university is to ensure that effort should be made in recruiting more senior lecture and lecture I & below to meet the BMASS and CCMASS guidelines in all categories .

7. The University should ensure that all academic and non-academic staff benefit from staff development programme.

8. The university should purchase more current books and journals for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 76%. It scored 37 (76%)  in Academic Matters, 35 (67%) in Staffing, 27 (88.8%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (72.2%) in Library. The programme scored 3 (66.66%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
