1. 62% of the academic staff have not benefited from the Staff Development Programme in the past 3 years.

2. 73.34% of the non- academic staff have not benefited from the Staff Development Programme in the past 3 years.

3. Students demonstrated poor level of soft skills.

4. Staff mix by rank of 23.07: 34.61: 42.31 is not consistent with NUC guidelines in two categories.

5. Lamena Flow Chamber and Rotary evaporators are not available in the laboratory.

6. Academic staff offices for Lecturer I and below are inadequate in space and not well furnished.

7. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University is encouraged to ensure that all academic staff benefit from the Staff Development Programme.

2. The University is encouraged to ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from the Staff Development Programme.

3. Students need to be encouraged to put more efforts in soft skills.

4. The university should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45

5. The University should procure all essential laboratory equipment for the programme.

6. More Staff offices for Lecturer I and below should be provided and well furnished.

7. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.40%. It scored 36 (97.30%)  in Academic Matters, 26 (74.28%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
