REMEDIES

1. 31% of the academic staff do not have Ph.D.
2. 49% o fthe academic staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme.
3. The following essential equipment are not available in the laboratory:-

* X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer.
* Atomic Absorption Spectrometer.
* X-ray Diffractormeter.

4. The classrooms and lecture theatres are inadequate in number and space.
5. The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by students and staff of the programme.
6. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. All academic staff should be encouraged to obtain Ph.D degree.
2. The University should ensure that all acdemic staff benefit from Staff Development Programme
3. The following laboratory essential equipment should be provided for the programme in line with the BMAS/CCMAS:-

* X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer.
* X-ray Diffractometer.
* Atomic Absorption Spectrometer.

4. More standard classrooms and lecture theatres should be provided for the programme.
5. The University should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon.
6.The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 88.80%. It scored 36 (97.30%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (82.86%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
