REMEDIES

1. practicals conducted during the academy session did not cover the curriculum
2. quality assurance exist but not effective. No evidence of minutes of meetings.
3. Only two non academic staff benefited from the staff development program
4. the Chemistry laboratory lacks the following equipment; infrared nuclear magnetic resonance, atomic absorption, spectrophotometer, gas chromatography and mass petrometre.

 

1. the department was advised to conduct more practicals during academic session to adequately cover the curriculum.
2. Minutes of meetings should always be documented as evidence that quality assurance exist and its effective.
3. Non academic staff should be encouraged by the head of department to go for staff development programs.
4. All essential laboratory equipment should be provided for the program.

 

The total score for the programme is 92.8%. It scored 32 (86.5%)  in Academic Matters, 33 (94.3%) in Staffing, 25 (92.6%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100%) in Library. The programme scored 3 (100.00%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
