REMEDIES

1. The markings scheme is not well-develop,

2. Practicals conducted did not cover the curriculum.

3. The internal quality assurance system at the university is not effective.

4. 33.3% of the non-teaching staff have not benefited from the staff development program
5. Absence of Biotechnology laboratory equipment
6. Office accommodation is slightly inadequate in space.

7. Funding for the program is inadequate.

 

1. The university should ensure that the marking scheme is in harmony with the questions
2. The university should incorporate more aspect of the lower plants at 100 and 200 levels to cover the curriculum fully.

The University should ensure the existence of an effective internal quality assurance committee in the department.

4. The university should ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from staff development programme.
5. The university should focus on securing more equipment required for Biotechnology.
6. Subsequent office space should meet the required space standard stipulated in the NUC guidelines
7. The university should provide more funding to boost the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 88.00%. It scored 33 (89%)  in Academic Matters, 34 (97%) in Staffing, 21 (78%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33%) in Funding, 2 (67%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
