REMEDIES

1. The marking scheme is not well developed, and the marks allocated to questions are not evenly distributed.
2. Students’ Degree Projects are not well supervised.
3. The students’ practical work did not adequately cover the curriculum.

4. Only 26.6% of non-academic staff have benefited from the staff development program.
5. Many chairs in the classrooms, lecture theaters, and laboratories are broken and neglected. There is evidence of a poor maintenance culture in the classrooms and laboratories.
6. There is a lack of availability of dictionaries on common errors.
7. Funding for the program is inadequate.

 

1. The marking scheme needs improvement, as the distribution of marks across questions is uneven.
2. Lecturers should be more meticulous in supervising degree projects.
3. The university should ensure that the curriculum is adequately covered in students’ practical work.
4. The university should ensure that all staff of the program benefit from the staff development program.
5. The university should ensure that broken furniture is replaced and properly maintained.
6. The university should procure relevant books and dictionaries on common errors.
7. The university should ensure the program is adequately funded.

The total score for the programme is 88.40%. It scored 32 (86.49%)  in Academic Matters, 32.5 (93.00%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
