DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. There was only one innovative law course in the curriculum which was below the BMAS and CCMAS requirement.
2. Students projects were not properly supervised and there were inconsistencies in citation style
3. There was no logbook in the Law Clinic to keep records of its activities.
4. The Staff Mix by rank was 46: 27: 27 and did not met the NUC guidelines in any category
5. 46% and 75% of academic and non-academic staff respectively have not benefited from staff development in the last three years.
6. The Library holding was deficient in foreign books and journals.
7. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. There is need to introduce more innovative courses to enrich the curriculum.
2. Student projects should be properly supervised and there is need to introduce citation guidelines to ensure consistency in the projects.
3. Logbooks should be procured for the law Clinic to ensure proper record keeping of the activities of the clinic.
4. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 in line with NUC BMAS.
5. Deliberate efforts should be made by the university to ensure more staff development programmes are introduced for academic and non-academic staff.
6. More foreign books and journal should be procured for the library
7. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 88.80%. It scored 32 (86.49%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (89%) in Staffing, 25 (92.59%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
