REMEDIES

1. Practical work does not cover the scope of the curriculum,
logbooks and practical manuals are not adequate.
2. Internal Quality Assurance system is not effective at the departmental level as there are no evidence meetings and decisions making documents.
3. Staff/Students ratio provide for only 64.5% of the teaching staff need.
4. 34.6% of the academic staff of the programme do not have Ph.D degrees.
5. Staff offices are inadequate in space.
6. Limited internet coverage impede access to the e-resources available for the programme.
7. Funding is not adequate for the proramme.

 

1. Depth and scope of each practical course should be
adequately covered, logbooks and practical manuals should
be provided.
2. The university should ensure effective quality assurance system at departmental level.
3. The university should strive to achieve the staff/student ratio of 1:20 for the programme as against to 1:31.
4. All academic staff of the programme should be encouraged to have Ph.D degrees.
5. The University should provide standard office space for all academic staff of the programme.
6. Bandwidth for the internet should be improved upon to ensure access to the available e-resources for the programme.
7. The programme should be adequately funded by the
university.

 

The total score for the programme is 78.51%. It scored 25 (75.76%)  in Academic Matters, 27 (77%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (78%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
