REMEDIES

1. The Programme have only three additional inn0vative courses;
2. Practical work conducted in the programme did not adequately cover the scope of the curriculum;
3. Students did not demonstarate adequate hard and soft skills relevant to the programme;
4. There was no minute of meeting to show evidence of effective internal quality assurance in the programme;
5. Only 56% of the teaching staff have Ph.D
6. Only about 54% of the Technical staff have benefitted from staff development in the last three years;
7. The Laboratory and classroom equipment did no adequately meet the BMAS requirement for the programme;
8. The Library holdings and currency in area of food processing and storage are not adequate.

 

1. The programme should have at least four or more innovative courses;
2. Practical work in the programme should adequately cover the dept and scope of the curriculum;
3. Stusents should be able to demonstrate high level of skills acquired in the programme;
4. The programme should have an effective quality assurance Committee in line with NUC BMAS document;
5.The programme should ensure that all teaching staff acquire Ph.D
6. The programme should ensure that at least 70% or more of the technical staff benefit from staff development in line with NUC requirement;
7. Adequate laboratory and classroom equipment should be provided in line with BMAS specifications for the programme;
8. more relevant books and journals should be providedd for areas of food processing and storage

 

The total score for the programme is 84.00%. It scored 32 (86.49%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (85.71%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
