There are only two technologists in the Microbiology laboratories. Alternative source of electrical power is required in the laboratories for uninterrupted laboratory works. Only 75% of the teaching staff benefitted from the staff Development Scheme in the last three years. Only 33.3% of non-teaching staff benefitted from the staff Development Scheme in the past three years.

There is need to recruit two more technologists in the microbiology laboratories. An alternative source of power such as a generator such be provided in the laboratory. The University should ensure that all teaching staff benefit from the staff Development Scheme. The University should also ensure that all non teaching staff of the Department benefit from the staff Development Scheme.

The total score for the programme is 92.00%. It scored 37 (100.00%) in Academic Matters, 29 (83%) in Staffing, 25 (92.59%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of FULL accreditation status for the Programme
