REMEDIES

1. There is no inclusion of innovative courses in the curriculum for the programme.

2. Staff mix by rank of (21.7:45.7:32.6) does not meet the BMAS requirements.

3. The non-teaching staff to include Technologist and Administrative Staff are inadequate in number.

4. Laboratories equipment, such as Spectrophotometers in Medical Biochemistry Laboratory, and Sphygmananometer as well as Blood Group Component in Physiology Laboratory are inadequate in number.

5. The Anatomy laboratory does not have an Automatic Tissue Processor.

6. Books on tropical medicine in the physical medical library are inadequate in number.

7. The internet bandwidth in the central medical e-library does not provide adequate coverage for the programme.

8. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that either four or more innovative courses are included in the curriculum for the programme.

2. Staff mix by rank across all the cadres be consistent with the provision of the BMAS.

3. The University should recruit more Technologist and Administrative Staff for the programme.

4. The University should provide adequate number of basic laboratories equipment, such as Spectrophotometers in Medical Biochemistry Laboratory and Sphygmananometer as well as Blood Group Component in Physiology Laboratory.

5. The University should procure an Automatic Tissue Processor in the Anatomy Laboratory.

6. More books in tropical medicine in the physical medical library should be procured for the programme.

7. The internet bandwidth of the central medical e-library should be upgraded to provide adequate coverage for the programme.

8. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 87.77%. It scored 31 (88.57%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91%) in Staffing, 24.6 (91.11%) in Physical Facilities, 14.6 (81.11%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
